Paul discutiu como ele sempre escreve ‘do coração’, lembrou suas colaborações com o falecido Michael Jackson e explicou como ele ainda tem dificuldade para entrar em acordo com avaliações difíceis – mesmo depois de uma vida na música.
Em uma longa entrevista com o frontman do Manic Street Preachers James Dean Bradfield, ele também falou sobre como ele tem as mesmas inseguranças como a maioria das pessoas, apesar de seu sucesso e como John Lennon ajudou a “equilíbrar” a sua tendência para desnudar a sua alma muito em canção.
Durante o bate-papo Paul também revelou como ele derrama o humor do momento em suas composições e só anos mais tarde descobre que ele tem explorado inconscientemente pensamentos mais íntimos que não eram sempre aparente no momento.
O encontro entre Paul e James teve suas raízes em 2010, quando Paul fez um show esgotado no Millennium Stadium de Cardiff e apoio veio de gigantes do rock galeses os Manics.

Paul has discussed how he always writes ‘from the heart’, recalled his collaborations with the late Michael Jackson and explained how he still finds it hard to come to terms with tough reviews – even after a lifetime in music.
In a wide-ranging interview with the Manic Street Preachers frontman James Dean Bradfield, he also talked about how he has the same insecurities as most people despite his success and how John Lennon helped to ‘balance’ his tendency to bare his soul too much in song.
During their chat Paul also disclosed how he pours the mood of the moment into his songwriting and only years later finds he has subconsciously explored innermost thoughts that were not always apparent at the time.
The encounter between Paul and James had its roots in 2010 when Paul played a sold-out show at Cardiff’s Millennium Stadium and support came from Welsh rock giants the Manics.
When Paul met the band on the day, James told him what an important album 1983’s Pipes of Peace was to him after buying it at the age of 14. Five years later on the eve of the album being reissued as part of the GRAMMY Award winning Paul McCartney Archive Series, James met up with Paul again to carry on the conversation.
